Audi 100 and 'Old' A6 (1991 - 1997) - 1994 2.6 faulty headlights

1994 2.6 faulty headlights - Jazzmin
I have a 1994 Audi Avant 2.6 SE and when using the headlights on full beam, when I flip them off sometimes all the lights go out, this can also happen when the indicators are used.

Any ideas why this happens ?

My guess would be a failing switch in the indicator/light stalk. I had exactly the same problem once (although not on an audi). Started as an irritating flicker then I had total light failure at 2am on the old A1 - I had to drive the rest of the way home on main beam to many peoples irritation.

I would take the stalk off and check the switch and the wires.
