05 1.9 TDi SE - Owners handbook wanted - moorlok
I've just bought this car (55 reg), but later found there was no owners manual!

Has anyone got a link I can download this in PDF (or other format) so I can get the tyre pressures, oil spec etc etc??

New to this car so any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tyre pressure is on the inside of the fuel flap.
If the car is on long life servicing, you should use Castrol (or equivelant) Long Life, details are written under the bonnet.

For an owners manual, if you go to one of the forums, you will be able to download it. Here in Italy there is one at www.vwgolfcommunity.com but its in Italian. Anyway the dealer who sold you the car, even if used, should supply you with a manual.

Thanks for that scipi,

I have only had the car a week and I'm just finding my feet as it were, but as you say, I'll go back to the dealers and get them to stump up the manual.

Cheers.

The vital oil specification details are not written under the bonnet. Vague references to "Castrol Longlife" are likely to lead to the wrong oil being used. For fixed service intervals, the oil must meet VAG specification 505.01. For variable servicing, 507.00 oil must be used (which replaces 506.01). The make of the oil is immaterial.

If VAG had not used engineering specifications for public consumption (ie defined their oils simply as "PD" and "PD Longlife") and put a clear label on the engine next to the filler cap, all of this nonsense could have been avoided.

Get it wrong, and your engine is at risk.

On my Golf MY08 when you open the bonnet there is a sticker with details of specific oil to be used (it states Castrol but as you say, it doesnt matter as long as it meets VW specifications). Also states in the manual which oil to use if on Long Life servicing but when I bought oil to top up, I returned to the dealer and asked the mechanic which oil to use & they told me that they use Agip Long Life

No labels were fitted to '05 vehicles. It sounds as though they have learned something - it certainly took them a while.
