I like the "Please don't try this at home" advice. I should be so lucky as to have a steep surfaced road within the curtilage of my property!

They are just copying what we used to do 50 years ago, but slightly more high tech! But I'm sure we went faster!!
We used to put "Eagle Annual" or a bit of wood on a roller skate to sit on and go at breakneck down the road (must have been fewer cars in those days!). Only problem (apart from numerous spills) was, if you leaned to turn you took all the skin off your knuckles as you hung on to the book/wood. Dad not very amused when his big leather motorcycling gauntlets were reduced to shreds!

Wasn't it also perfectly normal to have permanent scabs on your knees, elbows etc from falling over, playing footy on concrete, falling out of trees, off bikes, crashing bogeys (are soap-box cars still called bogeys??? or was that just a local term ).
Scabby knees seem to have gone out of fashion! No elastoplast then either - dab of iodine (ouch) and "let the fresh air get at it"

Extreme sport? It's no more than a one-man version of the three-old-men-in-a-wheeled-bathtub event we've seen on BBC1 on a million Sunday evenings. Nora Batty's wrinkled stockings, anyone?
