2001 1.8 instrument cluster not working - bensdad2004
i romoved my instrument cluster yesterday to replace a blown bulb. when i put it all back together my speedo, rev counter fuel and temp guages have stopped working. All mt warning lights are working and my mileage is displayed but not advancing as i drive... does anyone have any ideas o i forgot to mention it still lights up when i turn my headlights on.

Firstly check for any blown fuses .I would suggest you check the printed circuit at the back of the cluster to make sure the contacts are not damaged.Also check the multipin connector in the dash for bent pins.It is also essential that the pod is aligned & seated squarely in the dash otherwise all sorts of odd lights will illuminate at the wrong time.hth

have checked all fuses and none are blown and the cluster is aligned ok as not getting and fakse warning lights etc etc. also checked for damaged to connections and there is none. if i buy a new or second hand one from somewhere do they just interchange or do i have to take the car to a diagnostic centre and have it plugged it etc etc. thanks dave

S/hand unit will work ok ,but obviosly the odometer/mileage reading will be different.hth

As it was working beforehand, it sounds to me that you haven't put it back together properly, or dislodged a wire somewhere. Strip down and start again.
