Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 03 1.2 Will not Rev fault codes P0100 & P1044

03 1.2 Will not Rev + fault codes P0100 & P1044 - prestigej
I have an 03 plate 1.2 16v Renault Clio. It has been fine however when i start it now it refuses to rev when the accelerator is pressed. I am also getting fault code P0100 Mass Airflow Sensor and Code P1044 which I am not sure what that is.

Any help would be apprieciated.

I haven't got anything on P1044 either. Renault aren't great users of P1--- codes; preferring their own weird DF system.

Does it just remain at a steady idle; or does it try to rev but fail?

Check the brake lights; the metal crash box over the ECU and the wiring loom below the battery.

It seems to try and rev but then backfires and fails. The brake lights appear fine and I cant see any damaged wires.

Cat or exhaust blocked? What's the context of this fault?
