If you want to keep throwing parts at it - the coolant temp sensor.
would coolant temp sensor make a difference ,bearing in mind that it only happens when warming up , then it is fine , no problems.
Depends if the CTS has failed high resistance or low resistance; the ECU might think the engine is up to temperature when it isn't if the CTS has failed the 'wrong' way.
how easy is this to do can you do without draining system , just top up what comes out, when you do top up how do you make sure you get no air locks?
{moves to previous question, as related}

how easy is it to change coolant temp. sensor on vectra eco engine , worried about filling up with coolant , getting air lock
easy, let pressure out of cooling system, screw cap back on, loosen sender as far as you dare without it dropping out get the other sensor in other hand, unscrew old one put new one straight in you wont loose much water , important bit is letting any pressure out of the system also a lot less painful if its cold, top up as required

i have changed this morn , easy job, will see how it goes.

problem is still there

if you see from 1st posting i had trouble cutting out only on warming up and after the management light comes on, you stop engine and restart it, it is alright , until it goes cold a gain, i changed the coolant temp. sensor as suggested but this has no change, what else could it be?

Presumably, as the EML is coming on, there are some fault codes stored?
Might not it have been a good idea to mention that the MIL light was coming on at the outset?
Get the codes read.
We need another sticky: "if the Engine Management / warning light is on; get the codes read BEFORE asking what is wrong with the car".....:-))
can i read codes with a paper clip , even if the management light is faulty and does not always come on , or would i have to get read at garage?
You should be able to use the paper-clip method on that year.
is there any other thing that itcould be? something simple? i dont fancy paying £40 to be told by garage what is wrong.
>>i dont fancy paying £40 to be told by garage what is wrong.
You mean you would rather keep wasting money on fitting random parts which don't need replacing? Such wisdom!

Several hints above - Get The Fault Code(s) Read Out.
www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm
The fact that the ecu light isn't on all the time means that the fault is probably intermittant. The fault code(s) however will be stored for a period of time. It gets automatically deleted after something like 25 or 30 clean start ups (ie, 25 to 30 key turns with no faults present). The light has to be on for a short period of time (>10 seconds, IIRC) for it to be able to store a fault code.

no faults stored . but leak on rocker cover gasget, leads look very carboned up changed spark plugs and going to change leads tomorrow,
