Purchase new closure plates (these look like small tin lids) and stub axle nuts.
Lever out closure plates, partially unstake hubnut and unscrew (both sides right hand threads) and remove nuts and washers. You wil need a 30 AF socket and a meaningful extension bar. Do all of this with the wheels on, the car on the ground and the handbrake on.
Jack up and remove wheels, slacken handbrake adjuster under car beneath lever (one M8 self-locking nut) and release auto shoe adjusters. This will be necessary because on a vehicle of this age there will be a wear lip on the drum.
The best way to do this is to shine a very good torch through a wheel bolt hole in the drum and rotate it until you find the lower toothed segment of the adjuster ratchet. Lever this downwards to relese the adjuster - it's a bit awkward.
