03 1.9tdi pd golf estate - iain1986
ive got a 1.9tdi pd golf estate the head gasket went on it, put all the head back on started it then the one of valves went so all head back off again, so now got all new valves and now wont start. it does come up with a folt code changed that part which was the cranksencer and the folt still comes up and wont start abit lost now.

Since when does a fault-code instruct you to change a part?

What was/is the exact code number [VAG 5-digit] and what is your definition of it?

the code is 00515
def is hall sensor out of tollerance

That explains a lot. What's the engine code?

00515 is only a crank-sensor code on certain engine codes - for the rest [like this one] it's:-

"Camshaft position sensor G40; signal outside specifications."

The cam sensor is inside the cam-belt cover; is it connected - and to the right plug?
Is the cam belt on correctly - if it's a tooth out, then it will flag this code?
Did the sensor plate get damaged while the head was off?
Has it's feed fuse #34[?] blown?
Is there a live feed on the yellow/black wire?

Chances are you have got the cam timing out in relation to the crank.
