02 2.0 tdci blue smoke on start up - crosserking
im looking for a bit of advice, ive just got a mondeo 2002 tdci zetec that done 134k and wen starting up (cold) theres a fair bit of blue smoke there and judders for the 1st couple of mins, now the smoke dies down after its warmed up but not fully, the juddering goes then every now and again decides to shudder (like a misfire) then runs fine, theres no loss of power at all. can anyone advise please??

Buying a TDCi with a fuelling fault was brave - very brave.

Start with a hot and cold compression test; if this has the bent rods problem, then there'll be no need to look further.

ive just got a 02 mondeo tdci zetec and on start up it kicks a big volume of blue smoke that smells like bbq smoke not the usaul diesel smoggy smell, but goes after a mile, could any one advise if this may of been run on chip fat oil and is this why its knocking out the blue smoke??

worn valve guide seals most prob, its letting oil drip in to the cylinder whilst at rest (overnight) and then burning it on start up , once the seals get warmed up the they seal again problem solved until the next day
