Helphire business announcement - the volume off business is increasing but margins are under pressure - re-sale values of their fleet is falling.
However they do not state if their buy prices have also fallen as manufacturers bie with each other to give bigger discounts.

Good - I hope they, and all the other credit hire companies, go bust.

Well, the market for mkIV Golf diesels is still strong at least. Father in law has just sold his 7 year old, well used German import GT TDI 115 with 90,000 miles for 4 grand, less than 18 hours after placing a standard 20 quid ad on the Autotrader site.
Cheers

Not all doom and gloom. Just been speaking to a friend. He has just sold his 02 plate Mondeo Ghia diesel estate with 228,000 miles on it for £2500 within 24 hours of placing the ad. He bought it at auction three years ago with 120,000 miles on it for £3800. Never let him down. £1300 for three years and over 100k miles with no trouble, not too bad really.

I have just about destroyed my current car and am just about to change from a high mileage lifestyle to an almost no mileage lifestyle and so am looking for this massive fall in second hand values of gas guzzling luxobarges as I would like to buy one. As yet no one is dropping prices. Maybe in time but not yet.

I'm not sure the market will collapse.
If the price of new motors goes up because the cost of the raw materials has, forcing people to look at a second-hand market which may be contracting because people aren't selling into it.........
