Boxer 2002 2.0HDi- no rev & plenty of black smoke - redhorse
It start normally, but reved for a minute, then idle normally with no knoking sounds. While driving, from time to time, lack of power even when rev.Last day, start and driven about 100m, lots of dense black smoke from exhaust and no power at all, could not drive.management light is on.
Also, while rev at starting the spedo is moving up and down for that minute, then stops when idle.
Can anybody help me with an opinion?many thancks!

Boxer 2002 2.0HDi- no rev & plenty of black smoke - Screwloose
redhorse

A blocked soot filter in the exhaust, or a stuck-open EGR valve, could give the black smoke.

Not sure on the speedo effect; maybe a bad earth on the engine? Check the strap on to the gearbox - they corrode through.

Screwloose,
Thank you for reply.A soot filter in the exhaust mean the catalitic converter or particulate filter? I'll check in week-end and let you know.
