2005 2.0 diesel MPG question. - Westpig
the following are for a 3 yr old estate 2.0D SE

constant stop/start city commute on choke, only 4 miles each way..33.5mpg
very heavily laden, good hard thrash up a m/way for 400 miles.....38-39 mpg
reasonably fastish m/way run, but no hard acceleration................42-45 mpg
driving carefully on A road..........................................................48-50mpg
driving carefully on m/way..........................................................52mpg +
have had it temporarily showing 60 mpg when knocking it out of gear etc

all the above are trip computer readings, but the trip is reasonably accurate

Having owned a 2.0D and now a 2.2D I would say those figures are pretty accurate and would apply to both engines. In day to day usage there is very little difference in the consumption of the two variants.

I have an 04 2.0d estate. On "short trips round town" I get 41mpg and on "long steady continental motorways" I get 41mpg. These are actuals based on fuel consumption not trip computer averages. Reassuringly predictable but I have to admit to being a tad disaoppointed. I'd been hoping for highend 40s.

Figures don't alter when Wife drives so it's not my heavy right foot!

50.3 mpg ave after 65000 mile service up from 48.7 70% motorway

worst ever was 40.1 mpg in stop start traffic for 3 hours 25 miles followed by 30 normal miles

We had a 2.0d estate (manual box). Averaged 40-42 mpg over 2 yrs / 40k miles

2005 2.0 diesel MPG question. - injection doc

I had owned a 2.0d & a 2.2d

2.0 averaged between 43 & 53 mpg depending on journeys

2.2 averaged between 41 & 58mpg depending on journeys

2.2 was absolutley cracking and super smooth and very very tourquy and if driven like a nun could return a healthy 60 mpg from fill to fill on a tank ! not using trip computer.

Trip was about 2mpg inacurate

fuel gauge used to drop from Full to 3/4 mark after 175-200miles.

when EGR valve was faulty or injectors needed recoding it used to do 125-150 from full to 3/4 mark
