01 1.2 TDC sensor - wiremanuk
Where can i locate the TDC sensor on a 51 plate Clio (1.2 engine)

It's directly above the flywheel. A new one may require a modified plug soldering-in.

Cheers for that need to look at it, beeing cheeky wher is the location of the throttle body

Not much point in looking at it - a duff one looks exactly the same as a good one. [Although the plug is always worth a check for corrosion.]

The throttle body houses the throttle butterfly. Don't fiddle; they are fragile and mega-bucks [£750+] on most 1.2s - of which there are many versions on every year. You need to know your engine code [D4F/D7F-???] on one of these! [Low on the front centre of the block.]

[Why do you need to know about these bits?]

have been experiencing running problems, missing etc.
Have changed plugs (one was cracked) some improvement
Located the "Black Box" at back of engine (box was starting to chaff loom) reinsulated better again
Now although running reasonable has low tick over and seems alittle gut less when in the higher gears (4th and 5th)
So having read ion these forums these seem to be the general fixes to start with

Ahh; now I see. Unlikely to be crank sensor - that's an all-or-nothing bit. Low idle could be throttle body issues [if the ECU is on the back of the engine, then this is a 16-valve?]

Coilpacks can be problematical but the most likely cause of the problem is NGK plugs. These absolutely hate them - and they can cause dashpod failures too.

So have recently changed the spark plugs unsure for which type, if NGK then another change could be on the cards
Seems strange the connection with the dash board, is this damage to the dash permanet

sorry forgot to say it is a 16 valve ECU at back

Getting there then; It's a D4F-7?? There's only four different versions of that type on an '01.... Have a look for that number printed on the block.

Checked engine number pretty sure its D4F-712, although not that clear

Checked the new plugs and guess what they are NGK

D4F-712 is one of the four listed and is very plausible; get a set of genuine plugs from the dealer and see if that helps your two problems.
