Drive the deal have them for about £8420 at the moment!?

I paid 10.3k? for a diesel 90 Desire 27 months ago with metallic paint. Good deal at the time from DrivetheDeal.

With the way the £ has gone against the ? and general increase in raw material steel, plastics, etc, I suspect the prices may be drifting upwards from now on.

I suspect that the Xsara Pic is probably showing its age now against the C4 but still good value.

Is it better than the C4 Picasso? There's really no such thing as better - only better for you. All Picassos have that central instrument cluster - which is enough to put me off or we might well have gone for a C4P instead of a Toyota Verso - but if you can live with that, the answer is to try both. Then think about the price difference and whether the two family holidays you could buy with it make it worth putting up with any shortcomings in the older design.

I've heard of people that have changed from a Xsara Picasso to a C4 Picasso and wished they hadn't. The Xsara Picasso is a fine car (I'm on my second and might even buy a third if it is still available in a year or so).

To be honest prefer the way the Xsara Picasso drives over the C4 Picasso (although may be worth noting have only driven the Grand Picasso). C4's steering was far too light for my liking and had very little feel. Was good for tight spots, but really lacked confidence out on the open road.

My wife also thought the Xsara Pic had much better access than the C4 Pic. MiL has bad hips, and finds it hard getting in and out of cars, but said our Xsara Pic was one of the easiest for her, my wifes' impression was that she would seriously struggle with the C4.

Xsara Pic is also more conventional, with proper handbrake rather than button parking brake, and gearshift on the X Pic was very intuitive and easy to grasp. Once I got used to the dash, didn't have any real problems with it, whereas found the steering wheel on the C4 a bit fiddly to reach, and quite a few times found my hand catching the fixed hub whilst turning.

As a family car, the whole family loved our X Pic, and know numerous owners at work with them who also love the cars. Funnily enough one colleague who used to refer to mine as a burger van replaced her 206cc with one, and loves it.

Yes, like others I really like the older Picasso and just changed from a 2001 2.0 HDI to a 2007 1.6 HDi after doing my homework... The C4 Picasso is just too expensive at the moment for me and apart from style, doesn't offer anything better for a no-frills motorist ( I don't go round touching the dashboard to check if it's soft touch or not etc). It is also less economical than the old version.

In terms of the old style picassos, the petrols are v. cheap new, not so the diesels but I plumped for a diesel due to fuel consumption. Now, after just two weeks, have no regrets because in general running round I have got 54 mpg overall, far better than the old 2 litre. Only little thought, is the 1.6 92 BHP a dual mass flywheel or not? Should I really worry? Old engine was bullet proof, so hope not. yes, picasso is an utter bargain as far as I can see.
