I have recently got myself a Halfords trade car. I believe i can get discount on car parts and tools. But with the discount applied, would it be cheaper to go to a local motor factor.
Does anyone have one and whats the discount like?

It does seem to depend on the items you buy. I have found it very good for wipers, filters and tools (Halford's own brand sockets are particularly good value/quality) with, in the region of, 50% off some things. Other stuff, oils, greases, lamps, discs, pads etc don't appear to attract as much discount and are often quicker to get from an MF if not in stock at Halfords.
One clear advantage over our local indy parts places is the opening hours.

I do like the halford profesional tools, and have just bought their 150 piece socket set.As it was reduced to £100 pound i didnt get any trade discount on it.

I have to say, I've been very impressed with mine so far!
Oil and filter, and new tray and 5l screen wash - normal price £30+
Trade price was £12!
Looking to get a new radiator for my car - and they quoted me £51 compared to local shop which was £60, and Halfords is easy to park near!

I bought oil and presented my Halfords card. There was no discount on the receipt. The discounts are mainly for tools and parts.

Erm, just wondering how one goes about acquiring one of these cards & what the eligibility criteria are? Sounds good.

its all spelled out on the halfords site how to get one...basicly a pay slip to show you in the trade( i hear some folk sell payslips on ebay cough) or a stack of reciepts to prove you buy lots of parts..or a city n guilds type qualification in a motor trade
think it depends a little from store to store...some will hand em over if you have greasy overalls on
