BBC are broadcasting a programme on BBC2W (their Welsh branch). Just watched a brilliant programme on the mapmaker John Ogilvy. What makes this very special is that Monty Python's Terry Jones is trying to follow the Welsh maps in present day Wales via Sat-Nav. This is what the BBC is best at. We watch it on some obscure Sky Channel that SWMBO has found but also we've found it on iPlayer.

Brilliant - car related history, this is what makes the Beeb special.

How disappointing. I thought from the title that this was going to be about plans to repair roads that were cracked or cracking. There's lots of those in our neck of the woods.

Philistine!

Thanks PU, I watched last week then forgot to check this week. Very interesting as I am not far from St Davids.

My very thought RR, although it is a thought I have many times a day, usually about myself.

I'm not an automatic sucker for Pythons on their travels really, but this looks quite pleasant. And I too know St Davids from more than fifty years ago. I bet you can't go as far up the spiral staircases in the ruins of the Bishop's Palace as you could then. All there was to stop you toppling into the void were a couple of iron bars.

Tried to download the programme but my browser turned the BBC down for some reason. But I have bookmarked it.

Terry Jones gives it a particular spin - and none the worse for that, I think Palin would have been a little too serious.
