In the supermarket carpark today I saw an 07 plated Nissan with numerous scratches round the lock and the white primer showing through the black top coat. Leaving aside the issue of a remote on the key, it seems to me it's easier these days to go through the paint of a car and more common to see a light primer under popular dark colours.
Any thoughts?

It's one of the joys of galvanized body panels and water based paint. Consider what cars looked like 30+ years ago, covered in rust at a few years old.
There's a G reg 206 owned my by neighbours that is rust free, why put any more expensive paint on than you need to?

I try not to look at my car cos I'm sure when I do it scratches it.
And then the white undercoat shows through. Good choice that with a dark grey metallic top coat.
What car? Simply brilliant in every other way Skoda.
