Can you still get hold of them? ;)

This problem has been bothering me in connection with my elderly Escort for some time. It has three slightly graunched and battered silver full-sized wheel trims, one slightly different from the other two, and one naked black steel wheel, giving the car an authentic sink-estate look to go with its bloomed and fingermarked white paint, couple of rust spots on the offside doors and scuffed bumpers.
Although the scruffy overall appearance of the car doesn't bother me, all the panels being more or less straight and correctly aligned, I feel the naked wheel is a step too far and don't like the studs and wheelnuts being exposed to the elements. Of course I loathe these trims, which are stupidly heavy, large and pretentious, but I would quite like to get a compatible one that was dirty and a bit scuffed like the others. New ones would be totally ridiculous of course.
Two things I mourn: simple old-style chrome hubcaps, and the row of breaker's yards that used to exist ten minutes' walk from here. But things fall apart, innit?

e-bay?
Car boot sales - I recall hearing of a guy that used to pick up those odd wheel trims you see laying by the road, and flog them at car boot sales. I also heard it's not unknown for people to nick them to flog.

What's wrong with the copies you posted an ebay link to? They look OK, if a bit pricey.

I know someone, not a million miles from here, who bought a car fitted with two different pairs of wheel trims. One pair on one side, other pair on t'other. They washed the car several times before it was noticed!

I recently had the wheel trims stolen from my car, and have not bothered to replace them. However, I am actually quite beginning to like the look of the steel wheels compared to cheap and nasty plastic trims. It makes my car look somewhat more anonymous which I prefer. Also much less fiddly when checking air pressures!!

Also gives it that Mad Max "Interceptor" look I bet.

Hadn't thought of it like that, but yes. I think a post apocalyptic police pursuit vehicle would lose its edge with a set of Argos 14" trims.
