Iv got a 2004 corsavan, which i want to put seats in the back of. Iv looked at two options so far
1-Purchasing some from a company that makes seats for vans
2-Getting some from a breakers yard that have come out of the same model
Has anyone done anything like this? or could anyone offer any advice on the best way to go about it??

are you equipped to saw out the floor section...its not a nice job

I have a car based van, a Mk2b Punto. That *could* be turned back into a car by getting seats, seatbelts, windows, trim etc from the car version at a breakers.
But it would remain a van for for taxation purposes and then there is the insurance...
Check to see whether your load area floor is removable like the Punto or full length steel.
Not worth it in my opinion and likely to reduce its value quicker than even being in van trim.

from what i know, the floor does not need to be sawn out, it is basically matel pieces all bolted in. i understand when it is removed that it is just like normal car
does anyone know if it would affect my insurance at all, having rear seats??

is that the later shaped corsa or the early one?
the later ones deffo have to be cut...you should be able to see if theres a section that unbolts

Based on my own previous experience of this 20 years ago with a Ford Fiesta I would stay well away from trying to make any form of conversion from a car-derived van into a car. After buying it cheaply from a neighbour and buying necessary parts (seats, door cards, rear parcel shelf etc) from a breakers then doing the conversion it worked out a false economy to say the least:
1) Internal parts were different on the van, e.g. seat belt anchorings in a different place so when the front seats were tipped forward the belts were in the way; the rear passenger trim cards were plain grey hardboard in the van and the moulded "car" versions did not fit due to different retaining points underneath; there were no rear seat anchoring brackets on the rear wheeharch turrets; the boot floor was different; the inner rear pillars were unfinished etc etc
2) the filled in side windows did not just pop-out and were spot welded in place. Once removed it was a nightmare trying to get glass and rubber in place of this over the sharp edges (requiring removal/refitting several times before an acceptable fit was possible)
3) it voided my insurance immediately and I lost 9 months of premium. This was despite checking with the broker beforehand that modifications were okay
4) you will be a laughing stock with neighbours when they see your cheapskate conversion that costs you more money that you would have saved by buying the proper car version
In a nutshell the van was not simply the car with a few bits missing but a car modified in several significant areas to make it a commercial vehicle (and a more basic one to boot). Approach with extreme caution if you really want to go down this route!!!

The local postie has a Corsa based car/Van with seats in the back (a la Berlingo Kangoo etc) might be possible to track down one somewhere.
Ex- PO would be chaep but not necessarily a good buy.

DVLA `Brand` it as a van from new, (Initial registration is permanent) doesn`t matter what you do to it afterwards. Even if its actually back to a car again taking great effort and carefully sticking the `car` badges on.

Well, actually I had a long converstion with DVLA about turning my car based Punto Van into a `Two seater with a large boot`
Just pop side windows in (off the car version).... no way, others had tried before me. I was told "IT STAYS A VAN!!"
OK then.. At least its lower tax ( than some other vans) being Euro4, but there`s still the injustice of the Dartford crossing.
Of course, if that`s wrong.... ;)

And yes, I would do that to save 70P (or so) for two return trips a year through the Dartford crossing. Its the injustice, why should Luxo-Barges twice + the weight and size of my humble little van get through for only £1 ?
