Have you checked the fan switch? I have no idea where they are located, but if its external it should be near the thermostat but it could be anywhere. Others on here will have a much better idea.

Thanks m8 No not checked switch not sure were to look ?

The rad fan switch is located at the bottom of rad.It will probably have a 3-pin connector attached. Also check the fuses and relays that can be found in the engine bay fuse box,at the back of engine on the bulkhead.A lot of these diesel models are wired for a 2 speed cooling fan system, but can often only have a single speed fan fitted.hth

Also does the radiator actually get hot. The top of the radiator should be slightly warmer than the bottom when it's up to temperature if it's circulating properly. Check the top and bottom hoses for temperature difference. If the bottom hose is warmer than the top hose with the temperature gauge at normal then you have a fault which needs to be rectified asap.
If the radiator is always cold, or the bottom is always warmer than the top the thermostat might be stuck closed, and then the fan wouldn't cut in because the switch wouldn't know the engine is up to temperature......

Thanks i'll check in the morning

Does the fan itself work? All the answers so far talk about switch/circuit.

What happens if the rad fan switch is disconnected with ignition on?Also how many wires to the rad fan switch connector and how many pins in the rad fan switch?
|
If I disconnect rad Fan Switch with ignition on , fan stops working.
There are 3 wires to rad fan switch and there are 3 pin's ..??
|
This would suggest that the new rad fan switch is either faulty or incorrect. What are the colours of the 3 wires at the fan switch?I would guess at one being brown and the others being brown with another colour trace. Also do you still have the original rad switch?
|
"I would guess at one being brown and the others being brown with another colour trace." That's right.
No Sorry got thrown away

Hi Zeldadog,
Just wondering you you managed to fix this problem? I seem to be having exactly the same issue. Temprature guage gets to its highest, fan never kicks in.
Any helpt would be greatly appreciated.
