In case anyone has filled up at any Edinburgh Petrol Stations recently, it would appear that credit card fraud has been discovered at a couple of sites.
Might be worth checking your accounts where appropriate.

Does anyone know which stations are involved - report in AN Other newspaper said 1 x Shell station but which one?
|
|
Read the same report, just said a busy central station. Not which one though.

Wherever this happens, it always seems to be Shell, it even happened to me. It beats me how, as I like to think I'm observant enough to spot anything fishy. I only use a Shell/Citi credit card there because of this.

This is pretty old news - this was reported some 9 MONTHS ago! One of the stations was in Bruntsfield Place, as I recall - noticeable by its distinct lack of customers since!

My sources tell me this is probably the ******** Shell station.
Probably just ain;t specific enough when posting on a anonymously on a commercial website

Was it just credit cards they targeted?
I only ever use my credit card to pay with. I am always concerned that if my debit card was cloned they could empty my current account.

Debit Card / Credit Card it makes no difference - Banks & CC Comnpanies will recompense but it can take time (Months if you read the Money Pages in some "quality Sunday & Daily Titles"

Debit Card / Credit Card it makes no difference ->>
Well - I go on the rationale that if I use a debit card and someone empties my account I've got to get the money back from the bank!
If I use a CC and someone applies a fraudulent charge to my account - If I don't agree with what's on the statement - I don't pay, I'm in control.
For that reason I never buy anything over the 'net with a DC - always a CC, and I keep a separate card for that purpose so that if anything goes wrong (financial) life carries on as normal & I - and more importantly perhaps my wife! - can continue spending on DC and the main CC whilst it's resolved.
Brings to mind the old chesnut about the man having his credit card stolen but didn't report it because the thief was spending less than his wife.
