I am dismantling mmy 306XTDt engine and gearbox to replace engine.
Out of car so i thought nice easy job for Sunday morning. Removed the Alan keyed starter motor bolts and the 16 mm head bell housing bolts. Got the extension drive shaft out and pulled.
Clunk out 2 inches and dead stop and could see clutch lever come right way back, could see lots of rust on pressure plate so thought maybe the spline had nipped up in the clutch plate centre.
Grunt push pull WD40 no go.
Looks like i have forgotten to undo something or yo have to twist and turn and hold your mouth the right way???
Any help before I undo one by one the allan bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel?
Its Sunday here so i can ask my wrecker man in 24 hours.
HELP!!

have you removed the clutch release arm and nylon bush off the top of the box? there is a pin through the arm that needs removing with a punch, the arm then pulls up and off with a bit of twisting and then you can pull up on the arm shaft to free the white nyon bush, you won't get it off otherwise

I think it might be a 'pull' type clutch. I'm not familiar with Pug clutches but you might have to sort of unhook two steel rods clipped behind the release bearing.
Access is usually through the release bearing arm aperture. On the Iveco van's I work on if the arm is pulled fully back, it allows the bearing to 'unclip'

he will have to remove the arm, ive done plenty of them and he'll struggle otherwise.

Thanks again Chris.
Didnt break it, yes can see nylon bush and a spring thingie to be removed and a loose pin to pull out.
Nothing is simple.
It is amazing to see how rusty the pressure plate is.
That is not a good design, too much splash up from front wheels I guess.
have sourced new plate and disc around $AU400.
Still trying to figure out if I can reassemble the drivers drive shaft which fell apart after they damaged the boot.
Bearing fell out on ground but I got all the needles I think.
Still sourcing PVC glue compounds.
And where do I get that washing machine connector for the two heater hoses on the firewall from?

washing machine connector? which bit have you broke, the plastic bit at the end of the 2 rubber pipes, or the bit it plugs into? either way it'll need to come off another 306 so no idea where in australia.
you can reassemble the shaft if you have got all the pins, they just go in a circle around the shaft and then the bearing over the top, you can use grease to hold them on while assembling, there should be no gaps, just a continuous circle of pins, i suppose it should be ok if a couple are missing, just it'll fail earlier than it otherwise would of but who knows when that would be.

The bit that plugs in on the hoses, will check wreckers.
I fixed the radiator using 3M Amine/Epoxy resin as used in direct burial transformer potting mix.
I reamed the hole out to match the o/d of the heater bypass hose and then pushed the elbow into the hole and let this 3M stuff set. its solid as the original.
Gearbox back on new engine and waiting on the belts to come.
Why do they put so much locktite on the crankshaft bolt?
Got my Haynes from UK and have locked the camshaft pulley, fuel pump and flywheel ready to put new timing belt on when it gets here.
