I wouldn't use this in a gearbox - the EP additives might be too corrosive. Much safer to find and use a gl4. As for viscosity, what does the manual recommend?

I have some 75/90 GL5 synthetic gear oil and the information on the can states explicitly that it is intended for "manual gearboxes".

I have personally used GL5 in a MK5 2.5 DI Transit manual gearbox without any problem, in fact the reason for choosing this oil was to effect an improved quality of gearchange (which did in fact happen).

Yes, to expand on my previous post, there are some types of gearbox which will be unaffected, and some makes will contain the susceptible materials and will have trouble. Unless gl5 is actually specified in the owner's handbook for the Micra, I wouldn't be bold enough to try it.

The correct oil for the Micra is: SAE 80 to API GL4.
