"I'm not too concerned about the cars" says the garage owner.
I bet he is not, they were not his cars and he will be rubbing his hands together at the thought of all the expensive repairs that need doing, not to mention the owner of the written off one will be looking for a replacement. Win win for the owner.

Perish the thought he was more worried about the 93 year old neighbour than a pile of automotive scrap - tut, where have peoples' values come to ?

Capitalism my friend :) and whilst I'm not saying that the owner was not genuinly concerned for the old bloke he will make a nice profit out if it. Hence why he is not bothered by the damage been done. Might be a different story had they been his cars and the old guy not been insured.

Hmm..wonder if he has right of way to get to his garage, and isn't car insurance cover a bit iffy when you're on private property?

Not if it's a route of good intention, which it appears this is. Without checking property deeds no one can question the right of access.

On reading the report he's been using the access for 45 years - more than long enough to establish a right of way.
