2005 1.4 - Climate control - zorro
Interested in buying a peugeot 206. Like the 2005 1.4 SE 5door hatchback. Would like climate control... is it ok? The one Ihave looked, the climate control seems to be very noisy.
Also welcome feedback re what goes wrong with this model, only ever owned a VW Polo. Any advice ? Thanks Zorro

Hmmmm; I'm just trying to think of something that doesn't go wrong with them.......

Let's just say that I've never met anyone who really liked theirs.

[Cue avalanche of dissenting owners....]

Having owned 3 206s I can't say that any of them had Climate Control, only air con. I am not sure that CC was even an option. What is noisy - the blower motor or the air con pump, in the one you have looked at?

A regular failure on 206 models with climate control is the heater blower fan speed regulator. There is either no fan speed control or only max speed irrespective of what is displayed on the climate panel. The fan speed regulator comes complete with the motor for around £140.Could this be your excessive noise?hth

My mates got a pre multiplexed 51 plate 206 2.0 GTI, nothing has gone wrong with it since he bought it 30,000 miles ago (on 70k now) other than the usual tryes, brakes, exhaust. There was a major miss fire but that was caused by a faulty HT lead.

A brilliant car and the climate control works perfectly.

The key point there is "Pre-Multiplex"! Has his car got A/C or C/C. ie does he turn a knob with blue and red sectors on it or does he select a digital temperature?

It is proper digital climate control, it has a digital display with the temperature on, and you press buttons up and down to adjust it. There is none of that analogue circular knob stuff.

I think his gf also has it on her 1.4 53 plate GLX but not sure. Hers is the multi plexed one but has been reliable, but then she has only done 5000 miles in it in the past 3 years!
