Cruise control - usualsuspect
Hi,

Am I doing something wrong or am I correct in saying that the cruise control on a the later Vauxhall's won't accelerate unaided?

So if I'm cruising on a motorway and something happens that causes me to have to cancel the CC, I can't just tap a button to resume the same speed again? I have to go through manually setting up the CC eachtime?

I would think there is a resume function - all my cars with cruise control have had this (VWs, Ford, Mazda). What does it say in the manual?

I've just checked the 2007 manual, yes there is a resume function, press the bottom of the two buttons that control the CC briefly to resume the previosuly set speed.

Cheers both, I'll give it a whirl. Sounds odd that we have to press the slowdown button to infact speedup.

Not really. Otherwise the handbook wouldn't mention that it is also the resume button. I take it you've not RTFM? ;o)

Nope, I haven't read the manual yet because I don't have one. It's pending apparently.

Having said that I don't believe I should have to - I haven't needed to on my previous cars. They worked in an obvious way to be honest.

On my previous cars with cruise control I believe there were the words letters "RES" (for resume) on the button you had to press. Cannot comment on the Vauxhall.

The Volvo's "resume" button is marked with a little circular arrow, a bit like the one you see on the bottom of a speedo or rev counter sometimes.

Cheers

You can download one from Vauxhall's website once you've signed up for "My Vauxhall" (all free, btw)

A forum search reveals you've got an Astra-H. There are quite a few features that aren't immediately obvious - adjusting the timed interval for the intermittant wipers for instance.

I have the sensor rain sensor which seems to work fine at the moment. I figured out how to operate it through the method that they have used on the indicator stalk.
