Hi, bought a 1.5 DCi Clio last month& before I had a chance to get it booked in to get it checked out the cambelt snapped. Is there any chance that the valves have not been bent, or is it better to assume that they have.
Thanks.

Very remote chance, no damage has been done. Find a garage someone you know has had good service from and get them to strip it down to look.
Also get the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve cleaned on a Renault DCi engine, they get blocked and fail causing running problems.

Did you buy it from a dealer?

Update - Don't think there's much come back on the garage as I got it a bit more than a month before the belt snapped - they replaced the cambelt & it ran, but a bit rough for my liking & sounded like it was missing compression every now & again when very cold in the morning.
I wasn't sure about their ability to fix things so took it to Pro Diesel in Batley. Apparently the camshaft caps are broken - replace head. Surely this would have been seen when they replaced the cambelt? Getting the feeling I don't want to know actually.....
The other thing I wanted to ask is if the head from the 1.5DCi 80 can be used as a replacement for my 65 - I know the main differences between the engines are different injectors, an intercooler and higher boost on the turbo.
Just to clarify, I bought the car for fuel efficiency and am not trying to turn it into a different motor in the process of fixing it, but being able to use the head from an 80 version would give me more spares to choose from.
Thanks in advance

The devil can be in the detail with equivalent parts. Check the part number of an exchange head with the dealer or someone like Ivor Searle Engines. They may know if it's the same.
