She reports that her speedo has packed up..... both the milometer and the speed...

I will not get round to seeing the motor until the weekend, so though I would get a head start and see if anyone on here has any pointers on the issue...

Are the Cable driven.... or some horrid electro system/

Any Help as Always very my appreicated... cheers H ;0)

Electronic I think. Not much solid data about; but speed info might be fed from the ABS system [if fitted] or by a, black plastic, emulator box fed from a gearbox-mounted sensor.

First re-boot the dash by pulling fuse 11 and then refitting it with the key on.

this sounds like the usual suspect being the speed sensor on the gearbox diff...look above wherethe o/s driveshaft enters the gearbox.

Thanks chaps.. I will be looking at the car today/tomorrow....

Is there a way to 'check' the speed sensor is working? is it serviceable? cleaning etc?

Many Thanks

Most of them are 3-wire Hall-effect; so a feed, an earth and an on-off output as it turns is the usual set-up.
