Yesterday in the carpark of one of the Homebase's in Bournemouth. Spotted it from miles away because of its distinctive C-pillars / rear quarterlights.
Big (seemed very big!), swoopy, different and the pale leather interior looked very cossetting. Central dash had too many buttons on it though and reminded me of a 407.
Glad to finally see one and glad something so different exists.

Don't, I have the price of one burning a hole in my car pocket !

I think I've seen a grand total of three so far. Very rare. Especially as one was on the M6 with Ffrench plates.
Don't do it PU ;-) not that you would. Anyway you know you want a Jaguar XF.

Try a test drive PU if you can get one, i was surprised at the initial turbo lag and the front wheels scrabbling for grip on a damp road. (diesel auto)
But very rapid once moving, whether it could mend the broken heart of an ex BMW flying machine driver, i know not.
Warts and all i love em, so different to everything else, i deliver them occasionally and the cream leather interior is something wonderful, acres of rear leg room, never seen so many interior cabin lights.

Still have not seen one myself.
Pugugly should be aware that there was an advertisment in a national newspaper recently selling 07 plate C6 auto diesels for only £ 24500 from a large Citroen dealer which called them 'ex management vehicles'
Might tempt him!

I've probably seen about a dozen since they came out, but I was surprised to see nonone at all when I was in France for a week last month.

PU - if the need for the space of the Roomster has passed, I'd guess you'd go back to a 5-series or perhaps the aforementioned XF. Or are you thinking of a cunning plan to buy one a year old at about half its initial cost, then keep it for 10 years and find it's the only one left in the country.....
|
|
Be very very wary PU. I was once a BMW addict ,but after a few thousand miles driving a Citroen with the hydraulic suspension I was hooked for life.If you buy new it's a very expensive habit but you can make the horrendous depreciation work in your favour if you are patient.

I drew level with one in traffic yesterday. My wife's jaw fell open "what is that amazing car?"
It's quite ugly from some angles and very ugly from others.
But it really is a head-turner, quite spectacular. Just my cup of tea.
|
I had one on a week's test drive to see if I fancied one as a company car, just after they came out. It was without a doubt the most amazing car I've been in - and that includes the chairman of the Citroen Car Club's DS Decapotable that my wife and I had as our wedding car.
Big Citroens have always had a spaceship quality to me (I had a lift to a cricket match in the CX Safari owned by the parents of a schoolfriend once) and the C6 ticks all the spaceship boxes, especially with the Head-Up Display and swivelly lights. It's not a car to hurtle about in, it rewards smooth progress - the whole point of it is to reduce stress levels to zero while planning your next journey to distant stars.
The Sat Nav was awful though - I remember sitting outside the house for five minutes trying to enter my destination before heading off to the BT Research Labs at Martlesham (a great place to drive in such a car). Every character entered resulted in the system locking for 2 minutes while it went off to search for every entry in the database containing the new set of characters.
The other downside was that parked lengthwise across the front of my house (no way to fit it on our Peugeot 206 sized drive) it gave every impression of being longer than my terraced house is wide.
I chose not to have one though - I can't reconcile a car like that with my aim to be considerate to the environment. It did a good job of trying to convince me though - a hard thing to do for someone who feels guilty at owning anything with an engine bigger than 1.4 litres, who takes the train everywhere and will only fly once every two years. Maybe I'll get one when I'm old and it's been converted to run on onions or whatever scientists come up with.

There should be a few available at good prices shortly - Citroen UK put a bunch on them on the road for the French president's visit last week.

Perhaps you should live in a cave, then you could have one :)

Wish they would do an estate C6. That would suit the character of the drive and be a refreshing alternative to the other large estates. Also if they could do it for sub £25k it would start to look very attractive. As it is it remains too niche for most, pity really.

errr...that would be the hearse model.

Central dash had too many buttons on it though and reminded me of a 407.
Not only that, becuase many bits and pieces come straight from the above mentioned Peugeot 407. A disaster waiting to happen, in the electrics department, I presume...

I fear the new C5 may well reduce C6 sales even more. A C5 2.7 HDI has much in common with a C6 (engine, platform, suspension, etc.) and is a fair bit cheaper. Not as stunning obviously, which I suppose is the C6's raison d'etre.
|
"Not as stunning obviously"
Dunno, I think the the C5 is pretty tasty too, at least from what I could make out on the Fifth Gear feature last week - that's despite the dreadful filters, fish-eye lenses and flicking between different views every 0.35 of a second.
|
|
Nah Nah - I've seen another one now! Even less glamourous spot this time, near the sewage treatment works in Cabot Lane in Poole. Same dark colour though and sure is a massive thing. Looked good on the move.

So you like ugly motors then BBD? You are not alone...
|

I agree the C5 looks very good in the photos (haven't seen it in the flesh yet). The C6 is more obviously styled adventurously and glamourously whereas the C5 has to be more 'all things to all men'. Still looks good, though.

I see Trade Sales in Slough are offering 07 plate C6 2.7HDI Exclusives for £18,999. Roughly half new list price, depending on spec. Ex-Sarkozy visit ones, by any chance?
I think their emissions of 227 will hammer any sales in the London region in the future.

"Ex-Sarkozy visit ones, by any chance"
No I saw Sarkozy near Datchet in his limo on his way to London the other week. Stuck in a police road block. No Citroens at all in the entourage that passed me. Although I paid little attention to the people carriers.
.. and he did look shorter on the back seat of the limo next to Mrs S ;-)

83 C6 currently on Autotrader.

As mentioned elsewhere, the C5 will 'do' for the C6. I simply cannot see a market for the C6. It looks as though the designers had more influence than the finance guys.
How much money must Citroen have lost on the C6, or is it classified as useful pre-testing work for the C5, like VWs Phaeton for the Bentley?
|
Just had a test in one, and I came away much more impressed than I thought I would. Now I'm used to a V6 Merc diesel which is pretty smooth, but this thing was on another level altogether - I assume it's the acoustic glass that helps. The word 'Smooth' doesn't do justice to the car. It's so quiet you think it's hardly moving - until you check the speedo.
The heads-up display is superb for the speedo, and should be compulsory on all cars!
It didn't feel as big as I feared to pilot down the road, but the steering would take a lot of getting used to - the dealer says he will lend me one overnight to see if that will help.
I can almost do a straight swap for an 06 Executive with all the toys and low miles for my year older Merc with higher miles - very tempting!!
