Unfortunately, this brings back memories! - of when i was working on the farms in my youth.
One hot day, we had just rounded up and penned about 300 sheep for dosing, having done with the dog for the time being, the farmer tied it with baler-twine, to the tow-ball of the landrover instead of shutting it up inside. A couple of hours later, we had about 30ish sheep left to dose and check, but we ran out of dose, so (you've guessed it) the farmer jumped in the landrover and went to get some, completely forgetting that "rover" who'd gone to sleep in the shade underneath was still attached.
No amount of shouting or waving by myself and the other lad who was helping could make him hear us, and the last we saw of them that day was as they dissappeared over the hill towards the road.
The sad thing is that poor Rover not being able to run at 40mph, didn't see his tea that night.
