No...save your money unless there has been an accident or something similar. It will be relatively free running at that time and day.

I used to make Surbiton to Southport in about 3.5 hours. I reckon you'll be hitting Brum earlier than you think - not worth using the toll unless the signs advise of an accident on M6 proper. Don't be sweet talked by the signs that say "M6 Toll Clear" - this means there's nothing worthy of mention on M6 proper!

Depending on how long it takes to get to the M40 I'd agree with others that you should make BHX quicker than you think.
We treat the toll road as the default. The urban M6 can be as quick but is far less predictable as it's used for so many local journeys. If you value £5 saved over a potential 40min delay then go with the M6.

Sort of ironic I feel, that while people will pay a fee to drive into London they will also pay a fee not to linger near Birmingham. Make of that what you will. My pockets are not especially deep but I have to admit to doing both!

An easy explanantion. London has some great places to visit, Brum is the pits. :-)
|
Disagree! Depends what you want but Birmingham has a great museum, art gallery and theatres, and branches of London shops (Selfridges etc) and all without agressive beggars and Loony Ken! Place to be!

I can manage the accent, listening to it I mean! I was in Alnwick a while back in a shop where the owner was talking to a customer and I could not actually be sure they were speaking English! BTW - great motorcycle Museum in Brum - lovingly restored after a disasterous fire a few years back

Yes "M6 Toll road clear" is one of the most pointless and irritating signs I have seen on a motorway. What would be more useful to those of us who pay our road taxes, would be some useful information about the M6 we have already paid for!

there used to be a brilliant transport museum in birmingham but its shut down now , it was next to the canal in the centre of brum and it had a full size steam loco in one of the halls, tons of motorbikes and old cars and a few planes ... shame it closed really
