Hi all, after a bit of feedback on what How To's could be useful for you? Any feedback is greatly received.

Many thanks

how about routine maintenance - ie checks of oil, water, washer bottle, tyre pressures etc. We all had to start somewhere and there will be some drivers who are unsure of some of the basics.
Another useful one might be changing a wheel safely.
Or simple scratch repairs?

Hi all, after a bit of feedback

1. Until I read the comment "I did my own brake pads a while ago so this video just served as a refresher" by "pendulum" on the first topic, I did not realise that there were videos lurking under the first post of each thread. That is because my PC setting do not show videos unless the security levels are readjusted.

2. The video at www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=60722 "How to stop your vehicle bottoming out " is interesting. But it raises four questions in my mind:
a. Is it legal?
b. Does it affect the warranty on the car?
c. If not, will the Rossini group cover me for any damage that the device may cause?
d. Is it a classed as a modification that I must notify my insurance company about?

Might be worth starting a thread about.

Thank you very much for your feeback. I will have to ask Mark at car parts direct to comment on the previous questions raised about Rossini brakes.

All information is useful and very much appreciated!

Refer normd2 Good suggestion. We plan to do a basic under the bonnet check list on video. Fluids, oil, etc, etc. This will be aimed at the motorists who has never checked their own oil before. All the basics that would be safe and reasonable to do for a none D.I.Y'er. Body work dents and chips, that's an interesting one to think about - certainly needed with Supermarket trolleys!

We are just looking at doing the how to change a CV Joint, Drive Shaft, Steering rack and Alternator. Please keep the idea's coming.

Refer the Muscle kit question from jbif. They are legal. There is no modifications needed to the vehicle whatsoever. They simply act as a buffer between the coil springs. Nothing is been removed or replaced on a vehicle so to my best knowledge there is no need to advise insurance and does not affect vehicle warranty either - will double check with manufacturer too - but sure this is the case.

Sorry, I should have been specific in that I was referring to the "Suspension Muscle kit. These are rubber inserts that slide between the rear coil springs. They are designed to prevent damage from speed bumps and prevent the rear of the vehicle sagging.." { Quote lifted from www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/item.htm?id=4470 }

I don't know who makes them but assumed it was Rossini. By the way, these Muscle kits are not listed on the home page of www.carparts-direct.co.uk/

The Suspension muscle kit is on the special offers page of the Car Parts Direct website. You'll see a link on the home page (top right). It's worth listening to the video on the home page first as this allows you to claim some free wiper blades should you decide to order. To go to the home page click the small black/red/yellow banner to the right of this page - hope this helps

i was under the impression the" how to" section was being ignored for some reason, i think its a good idea ... apart from the extremely useful replies to posts on this site a few video's showing you how to cant be bad.. it gets my vote
