Hi
The manual 5 speed gearbox has a tendency to jump out of first and second gears sometimes. Any ideas why?

would advise you have gearbox mounts checked but I suspect that it has a fractured synchro hub, Quite common on that model! is the gear selection stiff or had it been at sometime?

In very worn gearboxes in high mileage cars, sometimes putting in a moly-type aftermarket additive can get the box to last a bit longer. It might be worth a try, as gearboxes are one of the last things you want to replace.
