2000 1.4 - Engine problems. - normsta
I am wondering if anybody can help me because my in laws have bought a 1.4 on a W Plate YR 2000 just before christmas and it keeps losing compression when it goes up hill, and when he fires it up from cold it blows out blue smoke then after about 15 mins before it turns white.

There have been a few isolated incidents of head-gasket failure on the K-Series engine; maybe getting a garage to sniff the header tank for hydrocarbons might be a good first step.

If it was bought from anywhere but a genuine private seller - take it back.

Head gasget,when its replaced make sure you do the cam belt water pump and inlet manifold gasget plus make sure the headbolts are replaced for non stretch versions.
