im going to guess screwloose is thinking ignition switch problem which was my first thought aswell which is why i asked for more detail, been quite a few similar posts on this recently for citroens

The heater works fine. Do you think I should check all fuses- in fuse box under bonnet and one inside on passenger side. you probably realise iam not very technical

What year is it? If it's a later one; it's the fuse that lies sideways [fuse 1 - 25amp] in the fusebox behind the passenger glovebox.
It also does the mirrors; the ABS; the A/C and other things.
