Denbighshire - you can actually tell where one county starts and another finishes.

Surrey doesn't seem any worse than anywhere else. All the roads are worse than they used to be.
Potholes, cracks and badly-done repairs are not the only problems our cars' suspension has to cope with though. It is time someone mentioned the perverse obstructions built all over the roads in this town (and others no doubt) at great expense and laughably called 'traffic calming measures'.
If you live in a country where politicians deliberately spend your tax money on measures for making the roads worse to slow the traffic down, you are most unfortunate.
Thank heaven I live in cloud cuckoo land, where nothing like that ever happens.

When I moved down in 1968, the AA had just completed a nationwide survey and announced that Somerset had the longest distance of the worst maintained roads in the country.
I cannot recall if it was 2003 or 2004 but I heard on Radio 4 that the AA had just completed a nationwide survey and announced that Somerset had the longest distance of the worst maintained roads in the country.
Now at the start of 2008, I cannot say that much has changed.
Must be a message there somewhere !
Rgds.

I nominate the Hogs Back (A31) between Guildford and Farnham (yep, Surrey).
Dual carriageway with 60 mph limit and regular posting of camera vans to detect the (patent masochists) who exceed it.
