01 Rear side window smashed - activist3
Hi,
I have smashed the back rear side window of my corsa car and was wondering what was best way to get this fixed. Spoke with auto windscreens and autoglass and they both quoting £200. I am fully comp insurance with an excess of £75.00 so was wondering if there was anyway of getting it fixed cheaper than that?

Paying the £75 will be the best way. The only cheaper way would be loads of hassle of getting one from a scrap car and fitting that. You shouldn't lose any NCB, I have never seen a policy where glass claims affect it.

i agree with Hamsafar
as to locate a s/h glass would cost you £25 + £35 for a mobile trade fitter to fit it for you and he might turn out to be the cowboy i had the misfortune to use last time
pay the excess and put it down to bad luck on your part

This usually refers to an accident claim.

There is normally a separate clause re " glass cover" where you pay £50 or in my case £60. This does not affect you main No Claims Bonus.

Do check your policy carefully as some only permit the two main glass replacement companies to do the job.

Thanks for this.

I have checked policy and excess is £75.00 doesnt matter what window it is, tiny one or full windscreen. If i use ato windscreens then it doesnt matter how much they charge but if i use any other than max of £125.

It also says it wont affect my no claims.>> >>I am fully comp insurance with an excess of £75.00

Go through your insurers and use AutoWindscreens then.
