can anyone give me a rough idea of the cost involved to replace belt and mileage schedule ?

After 40k miles, NOT 80k !! Cost approx £75 + Vat from a Vauxhall dealer on a 1.8 GLS with air con, make sure they replace the pulleys / tensioners as well.
