No have not tried but if it is the battery surely it would not work at all.
If the battery is low, it will give lights on the dash and click the relay, but won't have enough juice to power the starter motor, so it could just be this.

If the battery's had it, as often happens at this time of year, it might be able to provide sufficient current to turn the engine over slowly, but not quick enough to start the car. Batteries don't go from A1 condition to dead overnight.
If the battery's OK, look at the ignition system, starting by checking condition of plugs, and whether you have a spark. Being a pre-2000 model it won't have individual coil-packs, so check the HT leads. If there's no spark, check the dist cap, rotor arm and coil.
If there's a spark and the battery's OK, check the fuel pump fuse.

"Batteries don't go from A1 condition to dead overnight"
Unfortuantely modern ones often do. I've only replaced 2 batteries in the last 10 years, but both have been fine one day with no sign of trouble and the next day totally goosed - in fact the first one was OK when my wife came home from work at 5pm but was dead by 7pm when we went to go out again!

Is it illogical? It must be Citroen....

I stand corrected! Although I know mine's approaching the end of its life (finally, after nearly 8 years) because turn-over is sounding strained in the cold weather.

Enough power to light the dashboard warning lights - why not bump start the car (assume the car is a manual) -
Bump Starts can be complicated - my wife did not have the ignition on and was in 1st gear!!Ignition on and 2nd/3rd gear did the trick the last time I left the interior light on by mistake.
If the car starts after a push it might very well be the battery especially if it is 9 yr old - they can just fail overnight so to speak especially with the advent of a touch of frost.
Batteries for Micras of this age are funny shaped (tall/narrow) & not that common at the usual places for a cheap battery e.g. Costco but my neighbour found the local Motor Factor obliged at about £50 inc VAT - Halfords wanted £70+
