Hi all, I bet someone can help me answer this question. I need to do a project on BMW group and their approach to R&D and Innovation.
The very first question that I need to answer is how much they spend each year on R&D as a proportion of total turnover, I've been scouring their annual report and looking at the cash flow statements but I can't find this figure anywhere!
Go on, you know you want to help! :-)

From the 2006 BMW Group Annual Report:
"Research and development costs were 3.2% higher than in 2005, and represented 5.2% of revenues (2005: 5.3%). Research and development costs include amortisation of capitalised development costs amounting to euro 872 million (2005: euro 745 million). Total research and development costs amounted to euro 3,208 million (2005: euro 3,115 million). This figure comprises research costs, development costs not recognised as assets and capitalised development costs. The research and development expenditure ratio for 2006 was 6.5%
(2005: 6.7%)."

Unfortunately it wasn't on BMW! But this year I've got to use Strategic Group Analysis to compare BMW and Mercedes..

Close enough, once I've managed to fill up 2,500 words on BMW I need to cram another 500 in about another company for comparison! Merc's as good as any company i suppose!
So far I'm at 172, so just a few more to go and then I'm done then, I do wish there was somewhere I could just buy this degree/piece of paper from, the stuff that I seem to be learning has so far had very little bearing on my actual job and I can't help but wonder why I am sat here at 1:20am trying to spew words into my laptop!
