Vectra-B - Intermittent ABS Light - sutters
Hi,
My ABS light always goes off after the car is started, but will during any journey come on and go off again.
It will come on for 5 mins, 10 mins..... then off again maybe for 30 mins ..... 60 mins...... and repaeat this at any random interval.
If I stop and resart the car, it will always go off again.
Does anyone have any ideas ???
Thank you for any sugestions.
Sutters.

As the light goes off when the car is started, and only comes on while moving, my initial thoughts are a faulty wheel sensor. Now which one is anyone's guess. A read out of the fault code will reveal.

I take it you've not recently had any tyres changed? Perhaps one new one on one axle and an old one still on another?

Faulty wheel sensor looks favourite to me, as DD says, reading the fault code(s) will identify which one.

Differences in tyre diameter, either through wear variation or size differences, shouldn't cause an ABS fault light but it may cause the ABS to operate during normal, ie non-emergency, braking - the larger diameter tyre rotates slower making the ABS ECU think the wheel is locking.

possibly a sticking/faulty brake switch
