So if it had been yours, Nick, you wouldn't have minded being bundled out of it before some low-life drove it away? Ho ho ho.

A couple of months ago, we were all sympathy for the BR poster who was relieved of his cars by machete-wielding thugs in his own home. I don't see that crime as essentially different from this one, so what are we (or rather, you) laughing at?

wdb - relax - of course i would mind if it it happened to me.

i'm not meaning to make light of the event.

just the fact that someone premeditates this for a D reg Hyundai Pony, is all.

For various reasons the Hyundai Pony didn't sell well in Britain. No recorded sales to Cockney barrow boys - some problem with rhyming slang, if the urban legends are to be believed. ("Load of old pony" - as in pony and trap...)
incredible - why steal such a car? - bell boy
they didnt sell cos they were dire and the associated nailed on bits were made of monkey metal
eg wiper motors and linkages
wheel bearings
gearboxes
i rmember them well, a car to sell on the number plate alone to impress the neighbours with,honestly..............dave down the roads got a nearlly new L reg etc etc

anything but a poor little pony :-(

Quite right bb. If he'd looked hard enough he might have found a sweet little Kitten... or even a (expletive deleted) Rabbit...

I'm actually slightly suspicious about this... neither the DVLA nor the AutoTrader car data search has heard of this registration plate on a Hyundai or on any other car.

I wonder if it could have been 'filler' made up by a bored journalist in the safe knowledge that no one would have any information on the non-existent crime.

A bored journalist is a rare species...:-)

Nor is it insured - (I used the link mentioned in the following thread):

"Test drive" - that's the most suspicious part. Taking someone out for a "test drive" of a 21 year old car - with, what, a cloned number plate? - on Saturday morning. Yeah, right...
"When they had returned to his home..." Sounds like a first date that didn't work out...
Glad to hear there were no serious injuries. Better get Grissom and co to work on the deep voice and blue stripped (sic) jacket
