i have a 2000 vauxhall zafira diesel, and boy does it smoke, billows of white smoke compleatley blocks the street, loss of power, engine seems fine otherwise, its turbo, could this be a possible fault?
can you get a reconditioned turbo? how can i tell if its that for definate?
also the clutch has gone, its hydralic, with no resevoir that i can see just a pipe going to the slave cylinder with a bleed nipple .

Could it be a head gasket failure or maybe too much oik in the sump? Neither of these would effect clutch though?
|
Is it steam then, rather than smoke? Sounds like head gasket.

i have problems up here with oiks but never had one in the sump ;-)
op does sound like water and headgasket, could you get a local mobile mechanic to give it a look over, every town usually has one thats got a good reputation, ask at a small independant local if you dont

My dad acidently put too much oil in the car one, the result was huge amounts of white steam as if the HG had gone, I did think it was the GH at first untiul the garage said there was about 2 litres too much oil in the sump!

also the clutch has gone its hydralic with no resevoir that i can see
It shares the same reservior as the brake fluid.

A thought. Can a brake servo filling up with brake / clutch hydraulic fluid through a failed seal draw it into the engine to burn it as white smoke?
