Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1.9TD engine failure

1.9TD engine failure - paulc924
My son is looking at buying one of these cars. I seem to remember that the 1.9 turbo diesel engine had a series of con rod failures at some time. Can anybody remember what registration letter this affected. Thank you.
