I saw one and fell in love, I dunno exactly but it's the old shape from 1950 - 1960.
Like this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W120
I thought it had D1 on the back but it must be my memory and it must have said 190D
Do you know any websites which have one available? So I can see how much were talking about.
Oh forgot to say, How about finding one abroad, like Cairo or wherever?

Rats. I've just been editing the previous post and have been timed out. It must work from the start of the first editing session, as I'd been in and out several times.
Here we go again.

Most likely to turn up in the small ads in the MB Club monthly magazine, the Gazette:
www.mercedes-benz-club.co.uk/
Less likely to be seen in the back of Mercedes Enthusiast.
As for dealers, I think Charles Ironside (Alton, Hants) is the most likely, although their prices are always top dollar.

Thank you for your editing efforts :)
BCA sometimes has classic car sales - and I found this, www.classic-car-auction.co.uk
A pity I can't see a way to get an email if a W121 ever came up for sale. Mind you they do have a "previous results" section which I am about to trawl through.

It might be worth buying a copy of the magazine as below as it will have details of numerous Merc specialist dealers in the UK. Sure I saw a copy of this in my local WH Smith very recently.

Great looking car - hope you manage to find one!

These cars are rare. They are not quite rare enough, old enough or sexy enough to attract the serious attention of the major auctioneers (who favour SLs and pre-war exotica). They are rare enough for any in decent condition to be in the hands of caring owners (who may be more inclined than others to join clubs). No doubt there are wrecks to be found abroad, but you'd be better off paying sensible money for one that has been well cared for in the UK, I reckon.

Amen to that. It won't be all that easy to find one though.
Even the four-cylinder old Mercs were very solid and refined in feel, with I seem to remember rather nice slim ivory-coloured steering wheel and gear lever (usually column shift I think). The sixes felt really good compared to most contemporary British carp. Most of the good British fifties cars still had a 'hand-made' side. Mercs were mass-produced but very beautifully made, and rather expensive too. The thing I liked best about them was the fact they weren't silent, but sounded purposeful and revvy.

Lovely looking cars.
I remember going to an aution with my dad, must have been about '83 and there was a W115 I wanted him to get. Sold for about 6K. We came away with a Chrysler hatch for £100. How dissapointed was I.

I looked for that magazine in Tesco - no luck, will have to try WHS.
However Practical classics has a price list in the back and they list this car as being £5,500 in top condition, 2,800 in good, 1,500 in poor. So it is possible I could afford one, if I ever found one. They have never done a feature on the car which indicates its rarity in UK I would reckon - I spotted mine in Brittany. Also the classics @ BCA link above, history over 4 years, they have never sold one.
Maybe I'll get an Austin A55 instead. Top condition worth less than £2000 that's great.
