Splendid - the FSU is inhabited by a large number of lunatics (normally fuelled by very cheap vodka) that never fail to amaze. Less under the influence are the many enthusiasts that improvise locally built cars and participate in motor sports of all kinds with a fair degree of success on small budgets - they are generally speaking a very welcoming bunch.

What is a "half pipe", please?

it's a skateboarding term - picture a large pipe lying on the ground cut in half lengthways. The skater zooms down one (internal) side, up the other and into the air. The trick is to land back in the pipe and back up the other side again - I know 'cos my daughter's into this stuff. on a skateboard not a Lada.
