I have a vauxhall vectra 1.8 16v.
Every so often when i stop the car it will just cut out. It only seems to do this 2/3 times a week maybe. Does anyone have any info on what could be causing this please.
Also the outside temperature thermostat (located in the front bumper grill) is broken any idea how much and where i can get one.
Thanks

You best first move would be to clean the throttle plate housing and the idle-control valve with suitable cleaner.

Pretty sure I've seen it mentioned somewhere else that the temperature sensor is something like £7 or £8 from a main Vauxhall dealer.

In addition and possibly before cleaning the idle valve, clean the throttle body. You can clean it on the car. Use carb cleaner, particularly clean the underside of the butterfly flap and the small hole that runs to one of the breather pipes on the right of the throttle body under the butterfly trap. It's various breathers getting blocked that often is the root cause.
Email me if you want a picture of it.

I have recently cleaner the idle-control valve, with some success.
( Thanks to 'Dynamic Dave' for the useful photos )
To complete the job, can you send pics of the throttle body breather positions, mentioned in your note of 13th November ??
Thanks
