how stuffed is the M1? - adverse camber
My parents have just set off to catch a Ferry from Southampton, before they went I had a quick look at the traffic england site.

It looks as if the M1/A14/M6 area is all closed. Has there been some major incident?

I've suggested M1/A42/M42/M40/A34 and hope that it isnt too bad by the time they get down there.

Accident between jcn 19 and 21. TBH I would have used the M1, M42, M40 anyway.

Usually I (and they) do M1/A43/M40 but thats prob getting caught up in the backlash.

Its just that the traffic site shows the A14 shut as well - made me wonder if it was something more than just a simple accident.

edit: actually just looked agian the a14 is closed further along - I must have misread the site

Traffic Radio is saying it's an overturned truck on the M1, but presumeably it must have gone through the central reservation (unless maybe it's carrying something hazardous).

The M1 is merely congested.

It is we, its users, who are stuffed.

A5 reported to be gridlocked with further accident by the Rugby truckstop. M45 no better. Long distance traffic best using routes such as M42/M40 for M25 or A34. A1/M11 for Dartford/Dover etc.

Apparently the truck is carrying fireworks and it went through the central reservation. The driver was unfortunately killed.
