Its not on the main BBC news so can't be very serious.

Poor "advert" for the Caparo then... Hope he makes good and speedy recovery and his burns not too bad. Should have been in fire-proof race gear.
Could be the end of the Caparo if he's badly injured. Simply because few will sell and a test that should have promoted it on national (well 5) TV injurs the driver.
Isn't the Caparo meant to be as fast or faster than a Veyron? But I think the Veyron is over-engineered so I will buy that one. I get paid next month ;-)

They said on Monday night that he will still be racing and defending his lead (and championship win hopefully) at the Touring Car race this coming weekend.

Wonder if his car was sabotaged by Jeremy Clarkson in retaliation for the (alleged!) prop store arson? Maybe Top Gear Dog has been trained to infiltrate the 5th Gear set and leave erm...squishy mines!

He was on the local news at dinner time. His lovely face is a bit messed up, and he's got a few bandages.
Apparently Seat UK have paid for a special nurse to follow him round all weekend to give him the best shot at taking the championship. Makes me wonder if teams might start putting restrictions on drivers' other work - after all, they're sponsoring him to win, not to faff around on channel 5.

I have real respect for Jason Plato's ability. He must be one heck of a driver to put it mildly. He came back an injured man and of course he would have been in a lot of pain. He still gave the title a very good shot in the Seat under impossible circumstances.

Don't suppose that anyone could have envisaged the fire, but JP was driving without gloves or a nomex suit.
Yes, the car is a racing car for the road, so you could argue they wouldn't be needed, but usual basic racing driver precautions would surely have helped him? Sorry to see him injured though, seems an alright bloke.
Tom Ford's accident was really, really silly - given the way the HSE were brought into Hammond's accident, will be interesting to see if they are similarly involved in these, they probably should be and some channel 5 producers are going to have to have a rethink on their stunts.
