Hi i have an Audi A4 1.8 N-reg and where my trip miles are when i turn it over im getting, InI or 1n1 can anyone tell me what it means before i take it to a audi dealer an they tell me its something or nothing because they cost a fortune thank you for taking time to read my post...

Im also getting problems when the car is ticking over,the rev counter wavers between 0 and 1000 revs iv recently replaced the lambda sensor and airflow meter as iv had my mate put his diagnostics computer on it and thats what was faulty, is there anything else that could be at fault thank you for your help,messa...

In 1. Inspection 1 - time for a service.

So your mate thought that the O2 sensor and the MAF had gone; but got it wrong and it's still no better?

Where did the sensors come from?

No screwloose he never got it wrong i watched the guy do it hes been workin on cars for last 13 years,its better 100% better cos thats not the problam i had, the problam i had is now not a problam.I got the 02 sensor and MAF from an audi breakers for the simple reason the MAF alone was 190.00 from an audi garage ,and its workin ok maybe the 02 sensor is no good .....hes got all the computer and software to do any make and modle so he knows what hes doin.........

I would never buy used mafs or o2 sensors

Find a better audi garage or a decent vag specialist - under £100 for the maf easily. and if you have one of the early pierburg ones more like £50

having the kit isnt the same as knowing what they are doing

May have an air leak causing eratic idle or wash out the throttle body and will need ISC re adapting which will need a scan tool If it persists when this is done may need new throttle body. usually a wash & ISC reset sorts it.

Forgot to mention an air leak may trigger Hego & AFM fault & after market parts not good

were do i start lookin for air leaks and what is ISC and AFM please ,thanks doc....

Look for air leaks aroud breather pipes where they join the air intake pipe at throttle body. AFM is air flow meter, & ISC is idle speed control. Take it too a VW audi specialist if they are good they will fix it first time without bending the wallet
